About

MISSION STATEMENT: Ruah exists to shine the Light of goodness, truth and beauty on a dark world by providing formation, cultivating fellowship and encouraging fraternal service in the arts.

Ruah: breath, wind, spirit. It’s the Hebrew word used in Genesis 1 (”and the spirit hovered over waters…), and it’s our inspiration for co-creating Ruah.

We’re people of faith who are passionate about culture, and want to inspire, be inspired and connect with people who deeply care about faith and culture. We’re embryonic right now, but very much moving forward with this call to engage the culture.

Our Mission is threefold:

1) Fellowship–we’re inherently social, and in both unity and diversity we shall gather for informal meetings/ events, days of retreat and eventually a grand shindig.
2) Formation–What is Beauty? What is Truth? Isn’t Art subjective? What *is* art? What’s the relationship between faith and art? How does the Incarnate Word change everything? These are the types of questions we’ll tackle in our journey ahead.
3) Fraternal Service– If fellowship is the centripetal force, fraternal service is the centrifugal call to give of ourselves. We’ll help each other to discern the gifts we’ve received, and provide the means to help get there. We feel especially called to give to the liturgical arts.
